Below is my review for the radio station - but honestly, I cannot speak highly of this album. IT IS THE BEST THING I HAVE HEARD ALL YEAR. If you have never given world music a chance, this a great album to start with.  Also, if you are interested - you should check out Tinariwen’s story.  Amazing.

Tinariwen/Tassili/ANTI-/2011

Formed in the early 1980s in the Sahara Desert, Tinariwen, has gained notable success within the independent world music scene since their first international tour in 2001.  Tassili is the band’s fifth studio album and features of the musical styling’s of members from the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and TV on the Radio.  Tinariwen’s music is heavy on acoustic guitar with interesting rhythms and entrancing vocals.   Even though many American listeners won’t be able to understand their lyrics, Tinariwen’s relaxed sound makes their music accessible.

Recommended:  1, 3 (features TV on the Radio), 4 (features the Dirty Dozen Brass Band), 5
